The old barn at Hearts Set Free Animal Sanctuary held a vision far greater than its worn exterior suggested. Where others may have seen an aging structure, I saw the potential to create a safe and comfortable haven for farm animals in need. Driven by this dream, I took a leap of faith, pulling money from my retirement to fund critical upgrades. The new siding and windows now offer protection from the elements, while the newly installed water line ensures fresh, clean water is always available for the animals. These renovations have already transformed the barn into a more secure and functional space, but the work is far from over.
Much remains to be done to complete this sanctuary’s transformation. Updating the electrical system is a top priority to ensure proper lighting and heating for the animals, particularly during harsh weather. The addition of new garage-style barn doors at the front will provide easier access for daily care and feeding. Meanwhile, the back of the barn still requires significant renovations to maximize its usability. Every improvement brings us one step closer to realizing the full potential of this space, ensuring the safety and well-being of the animals that call it home. Looking ahead, the dream extends beyond the barn’s current footprint. An addition is needed to expand shelter space, making room for more farm animals in desperate need of refuge.
With each project completed, Hearts Set Free Animal Sanctuary moves closer to fulfilling its mission of providing a loving, secure environment for rescued animals. Support from the community will be vital in bringing this vision to life, turning this once-forgotten barn into a sanctuary where farm animals can find peace, safety, and a second chance at life.
